Why we built this
PledgeFor started with a simple problem: the people who most need to raise money often can’t.
Payment companies like Stripe don’t operate in Gaza, or in much of the world. So a family who needs help can’t open an account to receive it, however many people want to give. The workarounds that existed charged agents enormous shares by the time anything actually arrived.
We built a platform where that gap is handled openly instead of quietly. Today PledgeFor is open to campaigns from anywhere in the world, and the goal hasn’t changed: make sure the money actually arrives, and be honest about what happens to it on the way.
How campaigns get published
Anyone who wants to raise money on PledgeFor connects their own Stripe account first. Stripe verifies their identity — real documents, a real bank account, checked by a regulated payments company. Only then can a campaign collect anything.
That check is the gate. It means nobody collects money here anonymously, and it happens before a single donation can be taken rather than after.
Where the money goes
For most campaigns, your donation goes directly into the organizer’s own Stripe account at the moment you pay. It never passes through PledgeFor’s hands. Some campaigns are run by PledgeFor ourselves, and those say so plainly on the campaign page.
PledgeFor takes 10% of each donation, paid by the organizer. Stripe charges its own card processing fee on top, as it does on every platform that accepts cards.
Where an organizer keeps a share for running and promoting a campaign, that share is shown on the campaign page. We’d rather you saw it than found out later.
If something goes wrong
Every campaign page has a Report link. Using it stops donations to that campaign immediately — before anyone has looked at it — and the organizer has 72 hours to answer. If they can’t, the campaign comes down and we refund donors from the organizer’s account wherever that’s possible.
Who runs PledgeFor
PledgeFor is an independent crowdfunding platform run by a UK-registered company. We are not a charity, and we don’t claim to be. We charge a fee, we say what it is, and we try to make sure the rest reaches the people it was given for.
